Two More Sons of Canada Gone

O Canada!
Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

On Monday Nov 27, 2006 we lost 2 more of our soldiers in Afghanistan, Cpl. Albert Storm and Chief Warrant Officer Robert Girouard. The number is up to 44 since our troops arrived in Afghanistan in April 2002.

Keep our military in your prayers. They are in real danger there and we are sending off more in February. There are four men associated with our church who will be going to Afghanistan in the new year....we want to pray for them and all the other brave soldiers representing our great nation in the middle east.

Animal Freaks

Perhaps not the most diplomatic title, but that is what this post is about....Animal Freaks. I am not talking about Animal Lovers, which are people who really love and enjoy animals. I am an Animal Lover. We have an abundance of loved animals in our home...infact, some people probably think we are excessive. Just so you can relate to the amount of Animal Love that infiltrates our home, I will list our critters:

*aquarium of fish
*hamster
*budgie bird
*lop earred holland rabbit
*black & white DSH cat
*orange & white DSH cat
*tabby extra-toed DSH cat
*terrier cross dog
*siberian husky dog
and last but not least...
*a bearded dragon lizard

Suffice it to say, we love animals. To love or enjoy one's animals is not the same as setting them up as idols or valuing them above human life. However, when I am referring to Animal Freaks, I am speaking about those people. You know, the ones that are in your face about abortion being a right...kill your baby with government money, it is your right....BUT don't you dare declaw a cat or have an outdoor dog! It is really that ridiculous. The icing on the cake for me is when I read this article... PETA Targets Churches

The PETA group is targeting all churches who are using live animals in their *Live Nativity* displays. So, they have a problem with a sheep, cow or mule actually standing in a display with humans. So, so cruel. Imagine, an animal...forced to stand, stand infront of humans, to stand *with* humans....how dare they?! Get REAL!! Oh my goodness, it is so absurd that it just sickens me. These people are so warped in their thinking. Animals should be treated with respect and care. They should not be abused or hurt in any way. However, they are animals. They are quite able to stand in a display, chewing on some hay and be very comfortable. Whether they are standing in their own stall or in the display...they are standing. Guess what? The humans who are participating are standing there too!! Wow. Maybe someone should call the authorities on them....no, wait...they are just human. They can take it, but not the fur bearing animals!!!

I better stop now. I am aghast at the lack of logic of these people. The way they put animals on pedastils and devalue human life. If all the misdirected time and energy they put into these petty issues were re-directed to taking care of humanity, they would be better off. However, I should not be shocked because this is what should be expected from people who have made animals their god. Just like Romans 1:21-23 says:

For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

The Book of Life

Our God is fascinating. The way He created the heavens, the universe, our world and mankind. As science stumbles along, it continues to discover things about creation which point to a marvelous Creator. Science reinforces what we already know about God, but will never fully understand.

They have just discovered that the human genome varies between people. It was once thought that we as humans were 99.9% identical. Now the scientists have discovered that we are at least 10x more different from each other than previously thought. As a Christian, is it any wonder that our God of Creation included such variation in mankind?

Curious how the scientists refer to the genetic make-up of mankind as The Book of Life. We know The Book of Life to be something very different indeed!

The Nativity Story

I am very excited about this upcoming movie. It is nice to see a Biblical story put into film so a wider audience might be exposed to the things of God. Go to http://www.thenativitystory.com/ to read about it and to view the trailer. It looks like it is well done and has all the bells and whistles of other *Hollywood* movies....but with a subject dear to our hearts as believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.

Heart of Gold

I was searching through some You Tube videos and I came across Neil Young. Oh, what a reminder of my university days before I was a Christian when I used to listen to Neil Young tapes over and over. I just loved them. It has been many years since I have played those tapes. Infact, I do not think I even own them anymore. It is curious how you can play a song that you haven't listened to for decades and still know every single word.

Neil Young.
Canadian.
Music Artist.
Player of guitar, harmonica, piano and organ.
Such a distinctive voice.
A Canadian icon.

This video was made in 1971. I was just knee high to a grasshopper.
Classic Neil Young.
